Massage Therapy

Physiotherapy at Parkshot House Manual Therapy

There are many kinds of massage that manipulate soft tissue. The purpose of massage at our Clinic is to relax the tissue, increase the flow of blood and oxygen, and decrease pain and stress.

Massage techniques are commonly applied with hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearms, feet, or a device.

What kind of massage should I choose?

Whether you choose a Swedish massage, Thai massage or Deep tissue massage - all are designed to relax and reduce muscle tension and stress levels. We suggest you discuss this with your Therapist. They will ask how you feel about the pressure they use during the treatment ensuring you are having a personalised relaxing massage.

Our Holistic Massage Therapists have extensive massage experience helping people ranging from sports people to the general population with aches and pains.

Our Therapists hold either medical degrees or have completed additional manual therapy courses which elevates their abilities and skills due to their in-depth anatomical knowledge.

Full body massage

For a full-body massage, you can opt to keep your pants on or go completely naked. Our massage therapists are very skilled at protecting your modesty and making you feel comfortable; you'll never have to uncover anything you'd rather not. Your therapist will explain how much you need to take off, give you a towel to cover yourself and then leave the room while you get ready. The therapist will knock a few minutes later before coming back in to do the treatment. They will then only uncover the part they are working on.

If I have an "all body" massage, will it literally be my whole body?

A full-body massage doesn't have to include your sensitive areas. You can say which parts of your body you don't want to be touched. A full-body massage usually includes your arms, legs, hands and feet, your neck and back, your stomach and buttocks. The area around the breasts is usually massaged but not the breasts themselves. If you're at all unsure, we suggest you request a "back, neck and shoulder" massage first to see how comfortable you are with being touched in those areas. If all goes well, then next time you can book a full-body massage. Even with a full-body massage, most of you stays covered most of the time. Your therapist will uncover your arm and shoulder, for instance, or uncover your leg while they massage it. When the therapist need you to turn over, they will hold the towel up as a screen so you can turn over in private. Simple when you know how!

Do I need to do anything before or after?

We advise you not to eat 2 hours prior to the massage. Drinking prior to the session is fine. After the massage we strongly advise to rehydrate and be careful if you intend to drink alcohol shortly afterwards.
